Blog Tour: The Magic Warble by Victoria Simcox

QUESTIONS:

When did you know that you wanted to be a writer?

Though I don't remember the date, I do remember exactly where I was when I had a vision to write my story. I was sitting with my three children in the movie theater watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. In my mind I saw a twelve year old girl with long blond hair, bundled up in winter clothes, running excitedly down a snowy sidewalk lined with turn of the century houses. Clutched tightly to her chest, she held a burgundy hat box, and snow the size of cotton ball puffs was gracefully falling all around her. Even though I had written a few short stories in the past, this was the first time I knew that I wanted to write a novel.

How do you create the characters in your books? Are they based on people you know?

Some of my characters were created solely from my imagination such as Werrien and Raymond, but then others such as Hester and Graham have aspects of their personalities from people I have known or in my past.

What is the one book you think everyone should read?

The Magic Warble of course.

If you weren’t a writer, what would be your profession?

An artist and a art teacher which I already am.

If you could trade places with anyone in the world, past or present, real or fiction, who would it be and why?

No one. I feel that I, and for that matter, everyone on this ball of dirt we call Earth was put here for a purpose. Also if I was someone else, I would have never had my children. I couldn't imagine that. But if I could be someone for a day that would be different I would choose JK Rowling. It would be nice to taste a little of the glory.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have 3 things, what would they be?

A Bible, a how to survive in the wild book written by Bear Grylls or Les Stroud, and a satellite phone.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

I have many, but I'll list one them, Tristan and Isolde

What is the one thing that you want all your fans to know?

That I really truly hope they enjoy my story and that I hope it will inspire them in some way.

If you could invite 5 people to dinner, who would they be and why?

CS Lewis, because he not only wrote The Narnia chronicles that have been a huge inspiration to me, but he also is someone I share the same spiritual views with.
JK Rowling, because I was inspired to write my book when sitting in her book's movie and I admire her writing.
Stephanie Meyer, because I love her Twilight book and the story of how she had a dream to write it is so special and inspirational.
Jim Carey because he is hilarious and a great actor.
Rainn Wilson who plays Dwight in the Office, because he is so funny and bizarre. I really wonder what he is like in real life.
