Faith of Our Fathers on DVD #review & #giveaway #FAITHOFOURFATHERS #FLYBY

**I received this DVD for free for review purposes**

About the movie:
John Paul and Wayne are two young men in search of their fathers.  Problem is...their fathers have been dead for 25 years.  Eddie and Steven are two young men in search of their sons...whom they've never met.  In 1969, Eddie and Steven are with their squad deep in the jungle of Vietnam on a five-day mission to retrieve fallen comrades.  They write letters to their wives, often mentioning their love for their sons, one, who is an infant and one yet to be born.  In 1994, John Paul and Wayne go on a five day road trip to the Vietnam Wall in Washington DC to see their fathers' names.  Along the way, reading those letters, they begin to get an understanding of who their fathers were and how they died.  Trials and mishaps, both funny and sad, complicate the road trip for the boys.  The horrors of war and the testing of faith manifest themselves for the young men in Vietnam.  Ultimately, in parallel stories - 25 years apart - the fathers and sons are bound together forever.

Starring: Stephen Baldwin, Kevin Downes, David A.R. White, Rebecca St. James, Si Robertson, Candace Cameron Bure, Scott Whyte, and Sean McGowan.

Special Features of the DVD:
-The Heart of Faith of Our Fathers
-Honoring Father's Day
-Commemorating Memorial Day
-Si Robertson Interview
-Stephen Baldwin Interview

My thoughts:
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie.  It had a lot of what I look for in a good movie. It's funny, heartbreaking, thoughtful and full of suspense.  It was also unlike any other movie have seen.  I really liked how each character was portrayed and the storyline held my attention. I don't want to ruin anything, so I won't go into a lot of details, but it's a pretty amazing story.  If you have the chance to see it, you should definitely take the time to watch it.

One of my readers will win a copy of this DVD:

BON VOYAGE, CHARLIE BROWN (AND DON’T COME BACK!!) DVD #giveaway

Grab your passport and pack your bags because the Peanuts gang is going on their first international jaunt in BON VOYAGE, CHARLIE BROWN (AND DON’T COME BACK!!), arriving on DVD for the first time ever October 6, 2015 from Paramount Home Media Distribution. Released theatrically in 1980, and celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, this charming movie was the fourth feature-length film made with Charles Schulz’s beloved Peanuts characters and was a product of the long-time collaboration between Schulz, animation director Bill Melendez and producer Lee Mendelson. Together, these three helped create all of the Peanuts animated television specials and feature films, starting with A Charlie Brown Christmas in 1969.

The BON VOYAGE, CHARLIE BROWN (AND DON’T COME BACK!!) DVD includes the classic film digitally remastered in 4K, along with a brand new featurette that gives fans insight into the creative process of animating the beloved comic strip, how the feature film came to be and what it took to bring the movie to the big screen. The featurette includes new interviews with Charles Schulz’s widow, Jean, at the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa, California, producer Lee Mendelson and Steve Melendez, son of Bill Melendez and president of Bill Melendez Productions.

In BON VOYAGE, CHARLIE BROWN (AND DON’T COME BACK!!) Charlie Brown, Linus, Peppermint Patty and Marcie are chosen as – you guessed it! – exchange students, destined to spend two weeks in France. Of course, Snoopy and Woodstock join the French odyssey, which turns out to be a combination of mystery, intrigue, and romance coupled with the usual misadventures that seem to follow Charlie Brown wherever he goes!

Review: Cedar Rapids

Tim Lippe (Helms) was the guy people always thought would go places but then he just ... didn't. He's been living in über-sleepy Brown Valley, Wisconsin his whole life, still "pre-engaged" to his 7th grade teacher Millie Vanderhei (Weaver), while selling insurance to protect other people's dreams. But now, Tim's stalled life is about to get a kick-start because, for the first time in his 34 years, he's headed to a "major" metropolis - Cedar Rapids, Iowa - where he must try to save his company at a do-or-die insurance convention that, for him, will be entirely nonconventional. From the minute he checks into his hotel with his ancient American Tourister and cummerbund money-belt, it's clear Tim has no idea how the modern world really works. He is soon smitten with seductive Nebraskan insurance agent Joan (Heche) and awed by his experienced roommates, the straight-shooting Wilkes (Whitlock Jr.) and the suspicious Zeigler (Reilly)...

My husband and I watched Cedar Rapids over the weekend.  We were in the mood for something funny and as I was looking through our collection, I realized that we had not seen this one yet.  Originally, I requested to review it because of the cast.  I had no idea that it would be such a great movie.  It's hilarious and has a great plot.  I highly recommend this movie to comedy fans.

#Disneynature #WingsofLife Bluray Combo Pack Review

My husband and I are addicted to nature movies and shows.  We enjoy learning about life, whether it involves humans or the beauty that we are surrounded by.  I was given the opportunity to review Disneynature's Wings of Life which is narrated by Meryl Streep.  For 80 minutes I was captivated by the gorgeous colors that are found naturally.  Every time I saw a flower or a butterfly on my TV screen, I was reminded just how beautiful life is.  It is so easy to take for granted what we have been blessed with, brilliant colors, beautiful scenery and amazing life forces.

I learned so many interesting facts while watching Disneynature's Wings of Life.  Did you know that:

The orchid is the most cunning of all flowers?  She puts off a perfume to entice bees.  Then, she traps it and only releases the bee when she is finished with it.
The hummingbird's wings flap up to 200 times a second!  That's crazy!
A cactus can live up to 150 years.
Bees are able to perceive ultraviolet light.

This is just a few facts that I found fascinating.  I thoroughly enjoyed Wings of Life on Bluray.  I felt like I was right there in the middle of nature watching all of this take place.  The film was crisp and clear and intoxicating.  Meryl did an excellent job explaining what was going on and how much of life is interdependent on other creatures lives.  Make sure you check it out on April 16th.

Here are some great craft ideas to do with the kiddies.

I can't wait to see the next Disneynature film.  Disneynature is on Facebook and Twitter.

Disclosure: I received a free copy of Disneynature's Wings of Life for review purposes. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

#CatchingFire

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. Alone.

I cannot wait to see this movie!   I read the books and could not put them down.  I think I practically inhaled them.  I'm so excited!

Deadfall Review

Siblings Addison (Eric Bana) and Liza (Olivia Wilde) are fleeing from a casino heist when their getaway results in a car accident and a dead state trooper. On the run, they go separate ways, Addison creating mayhem cross-country and Liza being rescued by ex-boxer Jay (Charlie Hunnam), who is en-route for a Thanksgiving homecoming. Upon a sibling reunion, a thrilling showdown occurs that pushes the bonds of family to the limit.

The hubby and I love to snuggle up on the couch and watch movies. Last night, we were looking though Netflix movies that were available to stream. We decided to watch Deadfall. The movie seemed to start out pretty slow but by the middle, I was able to really get into it. While I wouldn't say that it is one of my favorites, it was definitely worth seeing once. At the end, when everything kind of tied together, I was able to see that the slowness was necessary to build up the story. All in all, it was OK.

Dinosaur Galore DVD's Review & #Giveaway

"Extreme Dinosaurs is a Dino Double Feature that will challenge a number of the previous perceptions of the Tyrannosaurus rex. In Extreme Dinosaurs, the first on the double-bill, Paleontologist Dr. Phillip Currie believes he has found a fiercer predator than the T-Rex: a six-ton flesh-eating dinosaur, the Argentinosaurus, which hunted its prey in packs. Until recently there was little evidence to support Currie's theories but now with the discovery of two mass dinosaur graves on his hands, he is able to gather the evidence to prove his theory to be true.

In the second feature, T-Rex: Warrior or Wimp?, the T-Rex’s place as the scariest dinosaur also comes into question. The T-Rex has been known as the meanest, most bewitching dinosaur of them all - could experts have been mistaken?"

"Research has led to novel ways of seeing some of the most brutal killers in history. Predator Dinosaurs uses innovative techniques through biomechanics, CGI, special effects and hi-tech scans to provide an insightful look at dinosaurs and challenge theories about the prehistoric world. Was the Tyrannosaurus rex king of the dinosaurs or a mediocre scavenger?"

"In the re-release of Prehistoric Park, zoologist and wildlife expert Nigel Marven travels back in time to capture amazing creatures ever to exist and bring them back to the ultimate wildlife sanctuary, the eponymous Prehistoric Park. Step into the hostile climates of the Cretaceous, Pleistocene and Paleozoic time periods to witness what killed incredible beasts such as Tyrannosaurus rex, Wooly Mammoth and Sabre toothed tigers. Take a journey with Nigel as he prepares for his forays into the past by working with present day animals for clues as to how their ancient ancestors might have behaved."

My husband and I love to sit down to watch interesting educational shows.  I was recently given the chance to watch three different dinosaur films on DVD.  Starting at a very young age, I became fascinated with these creatures and that fascination has only grown with time.  It's amazing to think about how the earth must have looked during their time.  I can't help but imagine what it would have been like to see one up close and personal.  I found these videos to be enthralling.  I was captivated from the very beginning and enjoyed learning more about these herbivores and carnivores.

BBC Worldwide America would like to give 2 of my readers copies of Prehistoric Park, Predator Dinosaurs and Extreme Dinosaurs on DVD!

Disclosure: I received copies of the above mentioned DVD's for review purposes. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.  I am not responsible for prize shipment.

The #BigWedding

With an all-star cast led by Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, with Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams, THE BIG WEDDING is an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son's wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future - and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process. Screenplay by Justin Zackham. Directed by Justin Zackham.

I'm a huge movie buff and with this amazing cast, The Big Wedding is a must see for me.

#Giveaway - #BeingFlynn Movie Tie-in Book & $25 Fandango Bucks

Can one life story have two authors?

Being Flynn is the new dramatic feature from Academy Award-nominated writer/director Paul Weitz (About a Boy). Adapted from Nick Flynn's 2004 memoir Another Bulls—t Night in Suck City, the movie explores bonds both unbreakable and fragile between parent and child.

Nick Flynn (portrayed in the film by Paul Dano of Little Miss Sunshine and There Will Be Blood) is a young writer seeking to define himself. He misses his late mother, Jody (four-time Academy Award nominee Julianne Moore), and her loving nature. But his father, Jonathan, is not even a memory, as Nick has not seen the man in 18 years.

Jonathan Flynn (two-time Academy Award winner Robert De Niro) has long defined himself as a great writer, "a master storyteller." After abandoning his wife and child, Jonathan scrapes through life on his own terms, and ends up serving time in prison for cashing forged checks. After prison, he drives a cab for a number of years, but with his drinking and eccentricities now accelerating, he loses his job. Despite the occasional grandiose letter to his son, he has remained absent from Nick's life.

Suddenly facing eviction from his apartment, Jonathan impulsively reaches out to Nick and the two come face-to-face. The older man is eloquent and formidable; overwhelmed, Nick nonetheless prepares to integrate his father into his own life. But, as quickly as he materialized, Jonathan flits away again.

Moving on, Nick takes a job at a homeless shelter, where he learns from Captain (Wes Studi) and Joy (Lili Taylor) how to relate to the guests who arrive night after night. Seeing the homeless – some permanently, some temporarily so – and hearing their stories, Nick finds purpose in his own life and work. He also sustains a romance with a co-worker, Denise (Olivia Thirlby). Then one night, Jonathan arrives, seeking a bed, and Nick's senses of self and compassion falter. To give the two of them a shot at a real future, Nick will have to decide whom to seek redemption for first.

Evocatively told, ruefully funny, and moving in its depiction of the ties that bind, Being Flynn tells a story that reveals universal truths.
