Review: Barely Bewitched by Kimberly Frost

Tammy Jo's life has taken a 180 degree turn with no warning at all. Thanks to an unfortunate, unplanned zombie attack, she has gained the unwanted interest of the World Association of Magic. She desperately tries to talk some sense into Jordan, the man who has shown up with a letter stating that if she does not comply, she will be imprisoned or killed. Neither option sounds reasonable to Tammy Jo. She just wants to be a normal citizen. She can use some clumsy magic but she isn't interested in giving up her pastry chef title. How can she convince them that she is not cut out for this witch business? Or is Jordan right and with the correct training, Tammy Jo just might be a great addition to to the world of the paranormal?

This is an entertaining, laugh out loud read that shouldn't be missed by any paranormal lover.

Review: A Circle of Souls by Preetham Grandhi

A little girl has fallen victim to a sadistic maniac who takes her life. Leia Bines is the agent called in to help solve this brutal murder. She's hoping with all her might that this case will turn out different than the last one.

Dr. Gram has been called on to help a little girl, Naya, who may or may not be suicidal. Naya's parents are worried for her safety and want the best medical care possible for their child.

Naya and her drawing pad may be the only link to that can bring this tyrant to justice. Will they be able to stop catch this creep before it's too late or will this grizzly evil roam free forever?

Every once in a while, I am caught totally off guard by an author. I figured that A Circle of Souls would be a good book based on the synopsis and some reviews that I have read. I must admit that I was highly impressed with Preetham's writing and story telling talent. Don't get me wrong, I knew by the information available that this book would have the potential to fly off the shelves. I did not expect to become a rabid Preetham Grandhi fan. He has captured this reader and I will more than likely be a fan for life. If you haven't read this book, you should pick it now so you don't miss out on this creative heart-pumping thriller.

Blog Tour/Giveaway: Nurture Shock by Po Bronson & Ashley Merryman

Description (taken from here):

In a world of modern, involved, caring parents, why are so many kids aggressive and cruel? Where is intelligence hidden in the brain, and why does that matter? Why do cross-racial friendships decrease in schools that are more integrated? If 98% of kids think lying is morally wrong, then why do 98% of kids lie? What's the single most important thing that helps infants learn language?

NurtureShock is a groundbreaking collaboration between award-winning science journalists Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman. They argue that when it comes to children, we've mistaken good intentions for good ideas. With impeccable storytelling and razor-sharp analysis, they demonstrate that many of modern society's strategies for nurturing children are in fact backfiring--because key twists in the science have been overlooked.

Nothing like a parenting manual, the authors' work is an insightful exploration of themes and issues that transcend children's (and adults') lives.

The Good Ole Days

For my 17th birthday, I went on a family vacation with my best friend and her family. It was one of the best birthday's I've ever had. The only thing that could have made it more enjoyable, would have been if my parents were there. I loved getting up every morning and getting to swim in the ocean. It was the first time I had been to a Myrtle Beach Resort. It felt so great to be in the fresh air with the sun beating down on me. I did end up with a wicked sunburn though. It was a small price to pay for how good I looked and felt. I've been trying to talk my husband into taking a vacation and staying at one of the Myrtle Beach Resorts.

I want to reminisce and feel the way I felt when I was a teenager. I doubt that it would be exactly the same but I know that I would have a blast spending time on the beach with my hubby and of course, our baby, Reese (puppy). With all of the Myrtle Beach Accomodations, I think we could have the trip of a lifetime.

Review: Afterlife by Guy Smith

This is the tragic story of a man who was forced into the afterlife due to a car accident. He wasn't the only one who received the short end of the stick. His wife is in a coma and the doctors have saved a fetus that they didn't even know was growing inside of her. He never got the chance to be a father in life but he's determined to stay in the afterlife to watch his child grow up. He keeps hoping that his wife will wake up and go on to live a normal life. Well, as normal a life as possible unless you ignore her husband who refuses to leave her. He feels like it is his duty to make his wife's transition into the afterlife easier by waiting for her patiently.

I would recommend this book to anyone who thinks about the afterlife and what it may be like. I found this book to be extremely interesting and it gave me a lot to think about.

Zappos

I have patella femoral syndrome and arthritis in my spine, thanks to a bad car accident. I need supportive shoes to help alleviate the pain associated with these conditions. After a few years of trial and error with several different brands of shoes, I have found that Nike's seem to be the best brand for me.

It's time for a new pair, so I've been searching online and found www.zappos.com/Nike. They have a huge selection of Nike's for men, women, and children. They offer several different sizes, widths and colors. The only problem I've found is that thanks to such a large selection, I'm having a hard time choosing which ones are my favorite.

Review: Eau Flirt Perfume

I'm sure you've already read my review on the Ageless Perfume. I was also given a full sized body of Eau Flirt, another Harvey Prince scent, and I still haven't completely decided with one is my favorite. Eau Flirt has a young scent as well and it's not at all overpowering. I like scents that just have a slight hint. I can't stand perfumes that are so overwhelming that you can smell them from miles away. Eau Flirt is perfect for going out on the town with the girls and a special date night with the special man in your life. I'm addicted to this line of perfumes and I can't wait to see what new scent they'll come out with. Eau Flirt will attract male attention, consider yourself warned.

Important facts:

- This perfume is clinically proven to make men flirt with women

- No animal testing

- Allergy tested

- No artificial colorings

Stop by the Harvey Prince site here.

Eau Flirt offers 4 different sizes:

100 ml - 3.4 oz for $98.00
50 ml - 1.07 oz for $55.00
Roll on - 8 ml EDP for $21.00
Roll on - 8 ml EDT for $7.00

Review: Last Call by JD Seamus

Jimmie Collins is a man in the know. Thanks to his not so legal activities, he has a black book full of connections. He also has good reasons for running with the wrong crowd. His wife has MS and his daughter is mentally disabled. With all of the medicals bills and the cost of living, a legitimate income just won't do.

Jimmie has a secret. He's dying. Jimmie is a family man and wants to make all the necessary arrangements to make sure his wife and child are properly taken care of. When Jimmie's makeshift family of bar patrons and thugs finds out that Jimmie's fortune has been stolen, they set off to find the person responsible and make him pay.

This book is amazing. My heart went out to Jimmie within the first couple of chapters. He's a man who the law would say is a felon but who truly has a big heart and only wants the best for the people he loves. I think you should read this book. Now. Go get it. Hey, I'm talking to you. Go get this book. You got it? OK, that's better. LOL.

If you haven't read JD's guest post, you can do that here.

Review & Giveaway: Ageless Anti-Age Perfume

OMG!! I love being a reviewer. It's wonderful. I can't even begin to express how many wonderful products I have found thanks to blogging. Ageless is the world's first anti age perfume. Thanks to research and trials, men find women who wear Ageless at least 8 years younger. I believe it! It has such a fresh, clean, youthful scent. It's not at all overpowering like some perfumes tend to be. If you would have told me that perfume could make someone seem younger, I would have laughed. But I've seen it, smelled it and now I believe it. I did make one mistake though. I like to share what I find with my family and friends and when my Mom smelled Ageless, well, lets just say that it's on her dresser now. I did not expect this because my Mom has really bad Asthma and Allergies and most sprays of any kind set off a sneezing attack so when she said that she loved Ageless, I had to let her keep it.

Ageless is being featured on ShopNBC today here.

Here are the times (EST):
Noon - Host Lynne Schacher
4 pm - Host Brian Kessler
8 pm - Host Libby Floyd

Stop by the Harvey Prince website here.

Want to hear some even more wonderful news? I have been given permission to give away one full-sized bottle of Ageless to one of my readers!! This perfume retails for $98 a bottle and it's worth every penny.

Guest Post: Like Music, Color Evokes Strong Emotions

BUNGALOO ART PROJECT MAKES
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY’S CALTOPIA
EVEN GREENER
Students Lending a “Hand” Will Also
Help Erase Carbon Footprint

Research shows that, Like Music, Color Evokes Strong Emotions:
Caltopia is August 23 and 24, 2009

BERKELEY, CA., August 18, 2009 - Caltopia, the largest College Lifestyle Festival in the nation, is set to explode with a cause that screams “GREEN!” Bungaloo (www.mybungaloo.com), a new color experience powered by Benjamin Moore, is creating a mega-art project that will let students leave their mark and, at the same time, help erase their carbon footprint.

“Color is in everyone’s lives and tied to so many emotions. We want Caltopia to have fun and enjoy it.” said Bungaloo’s Co-Founder and Chief Looie, Julia Miller. “We have a green theme for this project; the first 1000 students who participate will have a tree planted in a deforested region of the world.”

Providing a gigantic canvas with a tree, students will trace their hands for ‘leaves’ and color them in with Bungaloo’s eco-friendly shades of green, yellow and blue. Bungaloo will then reward students with a donation card from www.SeedOurFuture.org. They can register online and select where their tree will be planted.

“We think it’s great that Bungaloo will be giving out trees and further raising awareness among students,” said Seed Our Future Founder Robert Stillman. “Social responsibility can and should be fun- and their project is a great way to make a bold statement.”

Caltopia will be held on August 23 and 24th at the Recreation Sports complex and should attract more than 35,000 students and community supporters across the Bay Area. Admission is free. The Bungaloo Art Project will be outside on the Patio, next to Restaurant Row.

About Bungaloo: Committed to exploring the fun-side of color in ways that aren’t traditional to the paint industry (don’t dare call their Color Liquids, “paint”), Bungaloo is web-based, offers 80 designer-selected colors, and customizes kits based on needs and square footage.

About Seed Our Future: Seed Our Future provides companies a way to plant trees in deforested areas worldwide, thereby reducing their carbon footprint while creating an eco-friendly product.

“Book Madness – Why Everyone Feels They Have a Book in Them”
One of the most frequent things I hear when I happen to confess to being a writer is generally, “I’ve always wanted to write. I have a great book in me.” No you don’t. If you did, it would be written.
I hear the “book in me drivel” a lot at book signings. Don’t get me wrong. I love the people part of the business and book signings is the people part but please, ask about the book and tell me what you like or dislike-or hell, even about the pony you are buying your kid. Or best, “Can I buy you a beer?” But please don’t cheapen writers worth by saying you can do as if it’s not one huge amount of work. How would you feel if I came on your job and said, “I’ve often thought about designing a small town water system.” Or, “I’ve often thought about how easy it is to be an air traffic controller.” Tell Chipper Jones about you waking up one day and deciding to go hit a ninety five mile an hour fastball. When he finishes laughing maybe he’ll spit a little tobacco on your shoe.
Writing is really tough. I didn’t believe it until I did it. It’s that pesky start and finish. And the middle is no walk in the park. And the second book is even tougher. It might look easy to someone in the hot sun landscaping. Hitting a golf ball looks easy to until you try it.
I got published because I spent the two to three years required on that first book. I did it to entertain you. So buy me a beer and I won’t come to your job and harass you.

Novelist JD Seamus has lived and worked among some of the most amazing characters ever to have walked the Earth.

After decades of working in the world of retail finance, e-commerce, and venture capital, Seamus began writing a series of novels based in Manhattan.

Whether pondering life’s most absurd or most wonderful moments, or showcasing a character’s foibles or triumphs, JD Seamus is dynamic new voice in the world of fiction. Seamus may make you blush, he may make you cry, but he will certainly leave you entertained.

Guest Post by Glen: iBuyer

Check out iBuyer.com, the free interactive community is America’s first ‘reverse selling marketplace’ for buyers and sellers of vehicles. No longer should buyers beware, it’s time for buyers to rejoice, because iBuyer.com encourages the seller to offer the buyer the best possible deal, making sellers actually compete for the business. At the same time it’s great for the seller because they’ve finally found a place where motivated buyers exist.

iBuyer.com has created a reverse selling marketplace that is utilizing a social network platform to bring the sellers to the buyers. Up until now, sellers have been placing their supply online, hoping that demand will find it. iBuyer.com reverses this model by allowing demand to control supply, empowering the buyer and giving the seller access to motivated buyers

The first phase of iBuyer.com will be an interactive community of vehicle buyers, sellers and enthusiasts. Vehicles include cars & trucks, ATVs, boats, buses, commercial trucks, limousines, military vehicles, motorcycles, PWCs, race cars, RVs & campers, fork lifts, lawn mowers, snow mobiles and golf carts.

Typically the #1 most hated thing about buying or selling a vehicle is the negotiation. iBuyer.com eliminates the negotiating by posting every offer for every seller to see and beat. They encourage competition, and as a result, you get the best possible price.

Review: Seagate FreeAgent Go

I'm in love with the Seagate FreeAgent Go External Hard Drive. I'm really particular about the things that are important to me. I'm also anal retentive and a little OCD. Some may see this as a flaw but I see it as a blessing. I have back-ups for my back-ups because I know that anything can happen. I adore my family and love to look back on special moments that have been captured by camera. I not only have physical pictures, but I save them in iPhoto, Photobucket, on CD, on DVD and now on an external drive that I can take with me to family get togethers and share our past joys without having to give away my physical copies. My entire family is picture crazy so this is one of the best inventions I've ever come across.

Not only is it wonderful for pictures, it's also the perfect place to store your ebooks. I keep them on my computer until I'm done reading them but there are times that things just seem to disappear from my desktop. I don't know if maybe there is an computer ghost who gets a thrill from deleting important documents or what. It's really great to be able to hook up this device and read at my convenience. I live in a technologically addicted world. I grew up playing on a computer and have had one in my home for as long as I can remember. I also understand that a computer can crash at any moment and I don't want to be left without my family pics, videos and it would really suck if I was in the middle of a really great ebook and then, bam! the computer dies. I've had stuff like that happen so now I take the necessary precautions to keep my stress level at a minimum.

As I said before, I'm in love. If you have anything special on your computer that you don't want to lose, I would highly recommend that you get one of the FreeAgent Go's.

There are several different options, so I'm sure there is one that will be perfect for you.

GIVEAWAY: The Gift Of An Ordinary Day by Katrina Kinison

Full Description (taken from here):

The Gift of an Ordinary Day is an intimate memoir of a family in transition-boys becoming teenagers, careers ending and new ones opening up, an attempt to find a deeper sense of place, and a slower pace, in a small New England town. It is a story of mid-life longings and discoveries, of lessons learned in the search for home and a new sense of purpose, and the bittersweet intensity of life with teenagers--holding on, letting go.

Poised on the threshold between family life as she's always known it and her older son's departure for college, Kenison is surprised to find that the times she treasures most are the ordinary, unremarkable moments of everyday life, the very moments that she once took for granted, or rushed right through without noticing at all.

The relationships, hopes, and dreams that Kenison illuminates will touch women's hearts, and her words will inspire mothers everywhere as they try to make peace with the inevitable changes in store.

GIVEAWAY: Cult Insanity by Irene Spencer

Full Description (taken from here):

Life for Irene Spencer was a series of devastating disappointments and hardships. Irene's first book, Shattered Dreams, is the staggering chronicle of her struggle to provide for her children in abject poverty and feelings of abandonment each time her husband left to be with one of his other wives. Irene was raised to believe polygamy was the way of life necessary for her ticket to heaven.

The hard knocks of her environment were just the beginning of Irene's shocking tale. Insanity ran rampant in her husband's family and was the source of inconceivable events that unfolded throughout Irene's adult life. CULT INSANITY takes readers deeper into her story to uncover the outrageous behavior of her brother-in-law Ervil -- a self-proclaimed prophet who determined he was called to set the house of God in order -- and how he terrorized their colony. Claiming to be God's avenger and to have a license to kill in the name of God, Ervil ordered the murders of friends and family members, eliminating all those who challenged his authority.

For those who were gripped by Shattered Dreams, the rest of the story will blow them away. CULT INSANITY is a riveting, terrifying memoir of polygamist life under the tyranny of a madman.

Review: Jax Coffee

I love coffee. There are so many different kinds and it seems like two cups never taste exactly the same. This could be because I just pour creamer and sugar until I feel like it's enough instead of measuring. I love that there is such a variety. Sometimes I'm in the mood for flavored coffee, so I go with Chocolate Raspberry with a little bit of sugar. Other times I want plain ole coffee with Chocolate creamer and sugar or some White Chocolate Macadamia creamer.

I fell in love with the Italian Dark Roast Blend. It was so strong and smooth. I have to warn you that this kind is a little heavy, so if you're a light coffee drinker, I suggest you go with the Medium Blend. The good thing about the Medium Blend is that you can spruce it up easier and it's not as overpowering.

I would definitely recommend this brand to any coffee lover. I've actually already got my aunt addicted to it:)

Thank you Jack for sending me the Jax House Medium Blend and Jax House Italian Roast Blend to review.

Review: There's More To Life Than A Corner Office by Lamar Smith

I'm always searching for good self-help books. I want to learn one new thing everyday, even if it's something as simple as a new word. I've had a thirst for learning for as long as I can remember and if anything, the feeling has became more potent with age. I'm constantly trying to figure out who I am and what I can do to make this world a better place. Sometimes it gets overwhelming and I feel like I'm being swallowed by this huge black hole. I want to do everything, help everyone and I get frustrated because that's impossible. I try to make sure I that I make a difference in any way I can. Whether it's picking up a lost dog and returning it to it's owners or smiling at someone who has beaten up by life. I've never believed that money equals happiness or that your job title defines who you are.

I consider myself very fortunate because I've never been a slave to the dollar. I've always known that having someone truly care about me and my well being means more than a bracelet from Tiffany's. I would rather my husband do a load of laundry than buy me a million diamonds. I want to be shown that I'm cared for by actions not wealth. This is an amazing book that I'm sure will help many people open their eyes about the life they lead and what they can do to become a happier person.
