Review: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

Disgraced journalist Mikael Blomqvist is hired by Henrik Vanger to investigate the disappearance of Vanger’s great-niece Harriet. Henrik suspects that someone in his family, the powerful Vanger clan, murdered Harriet over forty years ago.

Starting his investigation, Mikael realizes that Harriet’s disappearance is not a single event, but rather linked to series of gruesome murders in the past. He now crosses paths with Lisbeth Salander, a young computer hacker, an asocial punk and most importantly, a young woman driven by her vindictiveness.

Together they form an unlikely couple as they dive deeper into the violent past of the secretive Vanger family.

I finished reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo around three-thirty this morning and I still can't believe how brilliant it was!  My husband bought me a copy and I started it as soon as it arrived.  Lisbeth Salander is one of the most likable characters that I have come across.  I had heard a lot about how great this book was and so I was expecting it to be pretty awesome.  What I found though was that words cannot describe this book.  No matter how great I tell you it is, you won't understand unless you read it for yourself.  I cannot recommend this book enough.

Review: Wayfair Products

I love searching Wayfair's website because they have so many items for your home.  What I love most is that they carry a wide variety of products with a range of prices.  I could redo my entire home at one store and have everything shipped right to my doorstep.

My husband and I were using an extremely old pot holder that looked as if it was falling apart.  We had some nice ones when we first got together but that was when Reese was a puppy.  My husband would be playing with her and she didn't quite have control over her puppy teeth yet and he thought it would be a good idea to use our oven mitts to protect his hands.  Needless to say, they didn't make it through the first round.  All we had left was one blue pot holder and it was pretty pathetic. When my Cuisinox Oven Mitt's arrived, I was so happy!  I would finally be able to use an oven mitt on each hand.  Wow, what a luxury!  They look wonderful and work great.  The only thing that I would change would be to make them a little bit thicker.  I have put my new oven mitt's to the test and am proud to have them in my kitchen.

Who would have thought that my review for home products would revolve around my dog?  Reese hates baths and it's a pain to get her there and an even bigger pain to keep her there.  We try to make it as quick and painless as possible but she tends to fight it.  She will back up to the end of the tub and make it extremely hard for us to rinse her off.  Well, that used to be the case, when we only had a five foot shower hose. My husband switched the hose with an Elements of Design 96" Single Interlock Shower Hose one evening and we decided it was the perfect time to test it out.  We had her in and out, looking all nice and clean in minutes.  Cleaning the tub and shower is a breeze now!  I can't believe that we didn't get a longer shower hose sooner.  The great thing about the one we now have is that it doesn't bunch up or anything.  I'm very, very happy with it!

Their mom-and-pop personal-injury law firm is getting by, but things really get interesting when they decide to take on a case involving Vicky (Shaw), a local ER nurse, who is pricked by a contaminated needle on the job. As Weiss and Danziger dig deeper into the case, a health care and pharmaceutical conspiracy teeters on exposure and heavyweight attorneys move in on the defense. Review & #Rafflecopter #Giveaway: The Sunglass Man Online

My husband is a truck driver for FedEx and he cannot leave home without his sunglasses.  About a month ago, his sunglasses broke and I didn't think I would ever hear the end of it.  We had checked around for nascar sunglasses but none of them really caught my husband's eye.  His style when it comes to sunglasses would have to be sporty.  I was really happy when I was told that I would be able to get a pair of Men's Sport Sunglasses to review from The Sunglass Man Online.

The first few days after receiving the sunglasses it was raining non-stop, so he didn't have a chance to test them out.  When a sunny day finally arrived, he called me and said that he really liked the sunglasses and he was so glad to have them.  They look really good on him!  I tried to get him to let me take a picture but he wouldn't go for it.  After wearing them for a few days, he did say that it felt like the silver accent pieces felt like they were going to break off.  That hasn't happened, so hopefully they will hold up for a while.  All of the sunglasses on The Sunglass Man Online are affordable.

Make sure you check out the  and aviator sunglasses.

Review & #Giveaway: The Yoga Club by Cooper Lawrence

Chatting it up with bendy WASPs is the last thing on Coco Guthrie’s mind during her 8:30 a.m. yoga class. Having made her fortune as the world-renowned inventor of Butt-B-Gone derriere cream, Coco still doesn’t feel like she belongs among the upper class— until she attends the swankiest Halloween soiree in Greenwich, Connecticut, where three of her fellow morning yogis shared her brilliant idea to appear as Sarah Palin. Soon it’s clear that a love of stretching isn’t all this accidental sorority—which includes a single mom with echolalia, an entertainment reporter who charms the pants off handsome stars, and a drama-prone producer with a taste for drag— have in common.

When the four mischievous Sarahs wander away from the party to sneak a peek at the mayor’s neighboring estate, they are stunned to find him adorned in leather and latex, and rolling up a woman’s body in a Persian rug. To make matters worse, someone has spotted the spying Palins. Someone who threatens to expose their torrid affairs in business and the bedroom. Now the unlikely foursome must use all their wits and wiles to get to the bottom of the kinky crime. But will their budding friendship be strong enough to protect their deepest secrets?

I picked up The Yoga Club last week and consumed the entire book in one day.  Cooper has a knack for storytelling and giving just the right amount of details.  The unforgettable characters paired with an intriguing plot make for a sensational read.  I definitely recommend this to my fellow readaholics!

#Rafflecopter #Giveaway: In The Name Of The King 2: Two Worlds on DVD

Top Ten Fantasy Films

Dolph Lundgren Stars in the Action-Packed Sequel
Arriving on Blu-ray and DVD December 27

In this film, Granger is confronted with time travel, mythical creatures, and many more fantastical people and situations. This feature will explore our top ten films in the fantasy genre, including Clash of the Titans, The Neverending Story, and Highlander.

From horror-mastermind Uwe Boll (House of the Dead, Bloodrayne) comes the adrenaline-fueled next chapter in the epic action/adventure franchise, IN THE NAME OF THE KING 2: TWO WORLDS. Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables, Masters of the Universe) stars as Granger, a lethal, ex-Special Forces soldier who finds himself transported back to a mystical age of sorcery, dragons and savage hand-to-hand combat.  This modern-day warrior has been summoned to defeat the forces of darkness and fulfill an ancient prophecy.  But as he fights his way to the truth, Granger learns no one can be trusted -- and one wrong move could cost him not only his life, but the future of his world.

Featuring a fantastic soundtrack from Queen, 1986’s Highlander is the tale of a group of immortals that must fight to the death until only one survives. The last immortal alive will receive supreme power over all mankind. Taking place over the course of 300 years, this action packed cult classic stars Christopher Lambert as Connor MacLeod/Russell Nash, Clancy Brown as The Kurgan, and Sean Connery as Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez.

1988’s Willow stars Warwick Davis as the titular character, and Val Kilmer as Madmartigan, a swordsman who helps Willow. The brainchild of Ron Howard and George Lucas, Willow is the tale of Willow, a Nelwyn (dwarf-like person) and conjurer, who finds a child that was prophesized to cause the downfall of the evil queen. With the help of Madmartigan, Willow is able to deliver the child to safety, and return home a hero.

The Neverending Story
The Neverending Story is a 1984 film adaptation of a German novel of the same name. In it, an unhappy boy is bullied by other kids and hides in a bookstore. There, the shopkeeper gives him a magic book, which allows the reader to become part of the magical story. Soon, he realizes that the characters in the story are aware of him, and that his imagination can help save the magical world and its inhabitants.

Dragonheart is a 1996 film that stars Dennis Quaid, David Thewlis, and the voice of Sean Connery. Dragonheart is about a 10th century knight named Bowen (Quaid), who forms an alliance with the last remaining dragon, Draco (voiced by Connery), to perform staged dragon slayings in order to collect rewards. Together, they ultimately save their entire kingdom from the tyrannical rule of the evil King Einon (Thewlis).

Clash of the Titans (1981)
1981’s Clash of the Titans boasts an all-star cast, including Harry Hamlin, Maggie Smith, and Laurence Olivier. This film adaptation of the myth of Perseus showcases some stellar stop motion effects for many of the movie’s monsters and creatures, including Medusa and the Kraken. This campy classic is consistently considered a best in the fantasy film genre, and was even nominated for AFI’s Top 10 Fantasy Films list!

Big Fish
2003’s Big Fish was directed by Tim Burton and is based on a novel of the same name. With a fantastic cast, including Ewan McGregor, Marion Cotillard, Steve Buscemi, Danny DeVito and Helena Bonham Carter, Big Fish is the story of a dying man telling his son tall tales from his exciting life. His fantastic stories involve great characters, like witches, giants, Siamese twins and a bank robber, all depicted in typical Tim Burton style.

Time Bandits
Time Bandits is a 1981 film written and directed by Monty Python alum Terry Gilliam. In it, Kevin, a child with a huge imagination, goes on a time-traveling adventure with a group of treasure-hunting dwarves. The dwarves have "borrowed" a map to the universe's time holes from The Supreme Being, and they are on the run from him. Along the way, they meet cool historical and mythical figures, like Napoleon, Robin Hood and King Agamemnon.

The Princess Bride
Based on a novel of the same name, 1987’s The Princess Bride is, undoubtedly, a classic. Combing fantasy, adventure, romance and comedy, The Princess Bride is the story of Westley and his love interest, Buttercup. After Westley is lost at sea and believed to be dead, Buttercup is forced to marry the incorrigible Prince Humperdinck. Filled with swordfights, miracles and a six-fingered man, The Princess Bride is one of the greatest fantasy films of all time.

The Harry Potter Series
It’s been hard to escape the Harry Potter film series (and the novels on which it is based) over the past ten years. This wildly successful fantasy series follows the wizard Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) and his friends, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) and Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), as they go up against the evil villain, Lord Voldemort. Spanning eight films, this series features countless mythical creatures, potions, flying broomsticks and magical spells.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
2009’s The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was one of Heath Ledger’s last film roles before his untimely death. The film takes place in modern day London, where a theater troupe promises their audience a chance to have their dreams come true within the mystical “Imaginarium.” Tony (Ledger), on the run from the Russians, joins the group and falls for Doctor Parnassus’ daughter, Valentina. However, the demons of his past come back to haunt him within the Imaginarium.

Paying For Your Education

One of my best friends is going to college!  I am so proud of her for taking these steps to give her a better education and more options for her future.  When she came to me and told me that she was thinking about enrolling in college, I could not contain my excitement.  She was torn because she doesn't have anyone to help her with tuition, so she will be doing this all on her own. I told her about my senior year of high school and how I received grants by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. They didn't pay for everything but they did help with a good chunk.  The great thing about grants is that you don't have to worry about paying them back.

Student loans on the other hand do have to be paid back.  I told Tina to do her research to make sure that she found the best student loans at  It's a good idea to find out about all of your options and make an informed decision.  This is a decision that will affect you for the rest of your life, so it shouldn't be taken lightly.  Investing in your future is a great idea and it's wonderful that there are programs and loans to help students out.

I'm so proud of Tina and can't wait to hear all about her first day, first semester and most of all, celebrating her graduation.  I should probably start planning the party now, because it's going to have to be a big one!  She has some hard work ahead of her but if anyone can do it, she can.  She is setting a great example and I can't wait to see the payoff!  I love you girl and I'm here if you need anything!

I Love Coupons!

I get excited every time I make a purchase and use coupons. I feel like it's a game. I try to see how much money I can save and when it's a lot, I get a thrill! For the longest time I was missing out on some unbelievable savings. I'm addicted to books and had no idea that I could save with upromise online coupons.  There are coupons for everything under the sun, literally.  You can save with walmart coupons and other stores like Barnes and Noble.  I'm all about saving money because that gives me extra money to feed my serious book addiction!  If you aren't saving money by using coupons yet, I encourage you to do some research and find out how much you could be saving.  You might be surprised!  I will warn you, it does get addicting!
