My husband, James, is not a primper.  He doesn't spend a lot of time getting ready or looking at himself in the mirror.  That being said, he also doesn't just let himself go either.  He makes sure that he looks good but without all the hassle.  We are both HUGE AXE fans.  We loves the way it feels, smells and how it looks.  I can still remember when it first came out and we went to the store looking for body wash and we came home with a bottle of AXE shampoo.  We had seen the commercials and everything but we were still shocked by how great this brand is.

As a woman, there has always been a wide variety of products available to me.  And most of them work really well.  It's about time a company like AXE came along to give men a chance to experience looking better because no matter what anyone says, all products are not alike.  Using different products can totally change your appearance.  If the man in your life doesn't use AXE, you have to enter this giveaway.  Seriously.  If he does use AXE, then it's a no-brainer.

Amy Komorowski’s Tips for AXE Smooth & Sophisticated Shine Pomade
AXE Hair research uncovered that the current market trend is the “classic” look we are seeing on runways and in popular television series’ like Mad Men and Gossip Girl, thus they created AXE Smooth & Sophisticated Look Shine Pomade to give guys long-lasting shine and control for a smooth, polished look.
         Start with clean, wet hair.
        Shampoo with AXE Hair Deep Clean Shampoo + Hair Scrub with rock crystals to help remove hair of gunky build-up.
        Typically most styling products work best on dry or almost dry hair, but for this polished style, I recommend applying AXE Smooth & Sophisticated Look Shine Pomade to wet hair in order to lock in the moisture.
        To begin styling, take a fingertip amount, rub it vigorously between your hands and spread it evenly through the hair from front to back and back to front – adding more as necessary.
        The key to creating the look is in the severe part.
Take a comb and create a side part in a straight line from the front of the head to the crown, then comb the hair into the desired style.
       Take another fingertip amount of the shine pomade, rub it between your hands and lightly go over the finished look to ensure it stays in place all day.
FIVE of my readers will receive AXE Intense Deep Clean Shampoo + Hair Scrub and AXE Smooth & Sophisticated Look Shine Pomade.

Review & Giveaway: Of Bees and Mist by Erick Setiawan

Merida's parents are void of emotion. She doesn't hear I love you's and she doesn't know what it's like to be loved unconditionally by a parent. She was was raised by her Nurse who unexpectedly is told to leave.

Falling in love with the man of her dreams she begins to feel truly alive. Marrying Daniel seems like a no-brainer. Thinking that her in-laws are the picture-perfect family she has always dreamed of, she is shocked when she finds out that this family is just as dysfunctional as her own. She had no idea she was leaving one hell for another.

I was a little iffy about this book. It was interested and well written but it lacked a certain oomph that I was hoping for.

Review: Push Up Bra with Removeable Cookie Inserts

Like most women, I am not always comfortable with my appearance. The part of my body that I hate the most is my stomach. It's all pooching out and on top of that, I have smaller boobs. When I get dressed and look in the mirror, I hate how my belly sticks out more than my breasts. Spicy Legs sent me a bra hoping to help with my current predicament. I was hopeful but at the same time, I didn't want to get my hopes up. They sent me the Push Up Bra with Removeable Cookie Inserts shown below:

I tried this on the day I got it, just to see if it was a dud like some others I have used. Luckily, it is a very comfortable bra that does make your breast look fuller and perkier than I have seen them in a long time. I love the quality and the material.  Whenever it's my time of the month, my breasts get really sore and tender.  Usually I'm cursing out whoever invented bras, but I tried this one on and because of the material, it felt a lot better.  This has to be one of the greatest bras ever made, just ask my boobs.  For $33 it's a steal!

**The picture was taken from here.  They are not my breasts but that really is how they look.

Superb

I am hoping to one day own my own business. There are a lot of things that I will need to think about. I know that I would like to run an internet business because the internet isn't going anywhere and there is such a high demand for online products and services. I would need dedicated server hosting.  Superb is a great company for small to mid-size businesses.

They offer both managed hosting solutions and colocation services. This company has award winning support and state-of-the-art datacenters.  They have been in business since 1996 and have a coast-to-coast tier.  The coast-to-coast option is a plus for businesses who plan on expanding and reaching a wider audience.

Giveaway: Wuthering Heights: (Penguin Classics Deluxe Edition)

Penguin’s founder Allen Lane started the paperback revolution with that little flippant but dignified Penguin (his secretary came up with the name and he sent another colleague off to the zoo to make sketches).   One year later, 3 million Penguin paperbacks had been sold.  Today, the
Penguin imprint alone has over 4000 books in print.  To learn more about our history, see here and here.

We are hands down the publishing logo most recognized internationally---including the story of Terry Waite, the Anglican clergyman who was held hostage in Beirut.  Six months into his captivity, Waite made friends with his jailer, and although they spoke different languages he managed to tell the jailer he wanted a book.  He drew an oval, and he drew a penguin, and he said, “find me a book that looks like that, and it will be a good book.”  That story says everything about what Penguin stands for around the world.

Penguin is celebrating it's 75th Anniversary and they want you to celebrate too! They are giving one of my readers a copy of Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.

Considered lurid and shocking by mid-19th-century standards, Wuthering Heights was initially thought to be such a publishing risk that its author, Emily Bronte, was asked to pay some of the publication costs. A somber tale of consuming passions and vengeance played out against the lonely moors of northern England, the book proved to be one of the most enduring classics of English literature.

The turbulent and tempestuous love story of Cathy and Heathcliff spans two generations -- from the time Heathcliff, a strange, course young boy, is brought to live on the Earnshaw's windswept estate, through Cathy's marriage to Edgar Linton and Heathcliff's plans for revenge, to Cathy's death years later and the eventual union of the surviving Earnshaw and Linton heirs.

A masterpiece of imaginative fiction, Wuthering Heightsremains as poignant and compelling today as it was when first published in 1847.

POCKET BOOKS LAUNCHES POCKET AFTER DARK

A NEW ONLINE COMMUNITY CREATED ESPECIALLY FOR ROMANCE AND URBAN FANTASY READERS

New York, New York (July 30th) – Pocket Books, a division of Simon & Schuster, has announced the launch of POCKET AFTER DARK (PocketAfterDark.com), a free online community for romance and urban fantasy readers.  Developed by Simon & Schuster Digital, Pocket After Dark will offer access to exclusive content and provide a forum for members to share interests and connect with other readers, authors, and editors on a personal level.

POCKET AFTER DARK will allow members to read, rate, and discuss new romance and urban fantasy books, participate in polls and live chats with bestselling authors, discover new authors and sample material, and connect with fellow readers and fans.  Special features will include access to free books, A Little Tease which offers two free chapters of up to six current titles per month, and a sneak peek from a soon-to-be published book by new and popular authors.  Members will also be able to earn points based on their site activity.

The site also includes the entire catalog of Simon & Schuster’s romance and fantasy books organized around the various sub-genres:  contemporary, historical, paranormal, urban fantasy, and romantic suspense so readers can easily engage with the content and discussions they find most relevant to their interests.

While the site is geared towards reading and discussion, users can buy the books directly from the site or an online retailer of their choice.

“Pocket Books is home to many of today’s premiere romance and urban fantasy authors, and Simon & Schuster Digital remains at the forefront of developing exciting and compelling online content,” said Louise Burke, Pocket Books’ Executive Vice President and Publisher.  “I am thrilled to be a part of this new venture that will unite our authors with their devoted fans.”

“Romance and urban fantasy readers are incredibly active online, and love to talk about their favorite books,” said Lauren McKenna, Pocket Books’ Executive Editor.  “POCKET AFTER DARK wants to be the publishing equivalent of their favorite hangout, where they can spot a publishing ‘VIP,’ bestselling author, or just talk with like-minded fans.”

“We combined free access to great content with all the latest social media functionality to create a virtual book club that serves passionate romance and urban fantasy readers,”  said Ellie Hirschhorn, Simon & Schuster’s Chief Digital Officer.  “Readers and fans can now connect around their favorite authors, characters, and books with others from around the country, rather than limiting discussions to those held in their living rooms.”

Review & Giveaway: Only Bandanas

Did you know that you aren't supposed to wash your hair everyday? A couple of my friends who went to beauty school shocked me with that statement. I have a dry scalp, so they told me it was especially important that I allow my hair to soak up some of it's own oils. When I spend the entire day at home working on the computer, this is easy. But, when I run to the store, I don't want everyone seeing how raggedy my hair looks. That's wear Only Bandanas comes in handy. I can leave the house looking cute and protect my hair.  Check these out:

There are so many great designs to choose from.  I am so happy with the products I received.  They are all super soft and quality made.  Here is a helpful video for those of you who are new to the bandana world:

The Hydration Station

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Haws. All opinions are 100% mine.

New_hswbottle_hr

I won't drink tap water or water from a drinking fountain. I've been told that it is the same as bottled water, but I can taste a difference. I prefer to drink water that is purified because it tastes the best.  My husband is always telling me that I need to drink more water.  I would never drink water if I had to drink from the tap.  I hate even brushing my teeth with tap water.  It's so gross. I have even been known to put bottled or purified water in my dog's bowl.

The Hydration Station is the perfect system for an office or shopping center. You don't have to touch it and it filters water that you can put right in a reusable bottle or cup. This system eliminates harmful waste like plastic water bottles.  I love how this product looks, it's so nice and clean.  Schools should really look into having a hydration station in every hallway.  You don't have to touch anything to get your water, so that would cut down on a lot of germs.  It has certain components that protect against mold and mildew.  There are so many great things about this product.  Too bad they aren't made for home use.

Wanted: Fat Vampire: A Never Coming of Age Story by Adam Rex

Doug Lee is undead quite by accident—attacked by a desperate vampire, he finds himself cursed with being fat and fifteen forever. When he has no luck finding some goth chick with a vampire fetish, he resorts to sucking the blood of cows under cover of the night. But it's just not the same.

Then he meets the new Indian exchange student and falls for her—hard. Yeah, he wants to bite her, but he also wants to prove himself to her. But like the laws of life, love, and high school, the laws of vampire existence are complicated—it's not as easy as studying Dracula. Especially when the star of Vampire Hunters is hot on your trail in an attempt to boost ratings. . . .

Searing, hilarious, and always unexpected, Fat Vampire is a satirical tour de force from one of the most original writers of fiction today.

I saw this book and I just had to share it with you all. I want to read it so bad! I hope it's as good as I think it will be.

She meets the dashing Jen Friis and her heart immediately belongs to him.  Torn between running away to be with Jen and raise their child that she is carrying and her sister.

Review & GIveaway: And One Last Thing ... by Molly Harper

Husbands who lie and cheat. How should a woman retaliate? For Lacey, this is achieved by sending out a blast email tell all about her husband and his crimes against her heart.

She decides to stay at her family's cabin for some peace and quiet to deal with her current situation. She ends up meeting Monroe who may not be a knight in shining armor but when it comes down to it, he is exactly what Lacey needs.

This is a fun, fluffy book that can be read in one sitting. I'm a sucker for romantic comedies and this book was no exception.

About:

ROHTO® Hydra: The newest product offering, specifically formulated to lubricate and provide long-lasting moisture for dry, irritated eyes with the closest hydration to nature tears, while also providing the brand’s signature cooling “kick”

I have allergies and I end up with red, itchy eyes all the time.  In the morning is usually the worst.  Hydra is a lubricating eye drop that really does provide a cooling effect.  It does burn a little right after using but it only lasts for a couple of seconds and then your eyes feel a million times better.

About:

ROHTO® Cool: a general purpose eye drop that combines redness relief with a gentle cooling sensation

When my eyes are red and irritated I use ROHTO Cool.  On those mornings that I step outside and I'm instantly assaulted with pollen and pollution, I can count on this product.  I know it sounds corny but it's true.

ROHTO also happens to be the eye drop of choice for many endurance athletes, whose eyes are assaulted by the elements daily during training. In light of that, the brand is sponsoring the ROHTO Endurance Sweepstakes through September 30, 2010, where two grand-prize winners (one male and one female) will receive a men’s and women’s Ceepo® bike, respectively. The sweepstakes also includes weekly prizes of ROHTO Training Kits that will include a valuable assortment of training gear and nutritional items. Go to www.winrohto.com to enter. For ongoing product and giveaway info, look for Rohto on Facebook www.facebook.com/rohtoeyedrops.

Review: Scent of the Missing: Love and Partnership with a Search-and-Rescue Dog

Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love my dogs. They are not pets, they are members of my family. We have been through so much together and I can't imagine my life without them. I love it when I read or hear about someone who loves their dogs as much as I love mine. I feel like Susannah is a kindred spirit.

Susanna teaches her do Puzzle a lot but Puzzle ends up teaching her as well. I found this book to right on when it comes to the love a dog and human can share. Susanna tells her story brilliantly and had me wanting more. Dog lovers everywhere will rejoice when reading this heartwarming book.
