Review & Giveaway: Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea

Nayeli and her mother were abandoned by Nayeli's father. Even though he walked out of their life, Nayeli continues to romanticize the idea that he is a great man. Many have left Tres Camarones in search of a better life in America. This leaves the people behind vulnerable to the crime and destruction that has taken over because there are so few left to fight. Nayeli and her friends decide to take their own trip to America and they end up learning more about life in that one trip than all the years before.

This is one of the most moving novels I have ever read. Luis shoves himself into your heart and it makes you feel like you are part of the book. I ventured out with Nayeli and her friends and the entire journey was overwhelming. One minute your emotions are on this track and then within the snap of a finger, you're on another track. It's an amazing book and I hope you read it.
