My Dogs

I am a dog lover through and through.  I have always felt a connection with these four-legged creatures and I am always amazed at how special they are.  I am very passionate about saving animals, which is why I will always rescue.

My oldest dog Reese was three months old when my husband and I adopted her.  Two hours after we picked her up, we found out she had Parvo.  When the vet told us how much it would cost to treat her, there was no hesitation.  She was our baby and we did everything we could to save her life.

Thankfully, it worked.  After days of treatment and isolation, we found out that our girl is a survivor.   She is almost ten years old now.

When I contacted the shelter to inform them of her illness, they immediately told me that I could bring her back and exchange her.  When I replied in anger, they said “what do you want me to do about it?”  I was  livid!  The only reason I called them was because I didn't want any of the other animals to suffer.

We adopted Teegan about two years ago a when he was four.  He had a very sad past and we wanted to give him a good life.  We met Teegan through the Stray Animal Adoption Program (SAAP).  They take excellent care of dogs and cats.  They make sure that the animals receive all of their shots, start them on heartworm flea prevention and they use a thorough application process for the adoption process.  The dogs do not live in a shelter, they are cared for in foster homes.

Teegan was so badly abused that he had to spend five months with a trainer to learn to trust humans again.  SAAP truly cares about animals and it shows.  When I signed the adoption papers, the volunteer got all choked up and said to others nearby that this was a very special adoption.  If you were to meet Teegan now, you would have no idea that he was treated badly.

I am so glad that I was blessed with these two dogs.  They mean so much to me and make my family complete.

Do you love animals?  If so, I would love to hear your story.
