Kids’ Ideas Are King In Dr. Fresh’s Fifth Annual “Be A Dental Inventor” Contest

Contest honors February 2011’s National Children’s Dental Health Month

Dr. Fresh is looking for a few bright ideas.  And he knows just where to find them.

Once again, the toothbrush king is asking second through fifth graders across the U.S. to design a fun, engaging and motivational toothbrush for  “Be A Dental Inventor” – a contest celebrating National Children’s Dental Health Month this February 2011.  This year, the competition celebrates its fifth anniversary with a special twist.  For the first time, in addition to the drawing category, video submissions will be accepted and eligible for prizes in a separate category.

Dr. Fresh, Inc. is a Buena Park, California-based company known for its bright and sparkly FireFly toothbrushes that light up and flash to encourage kids to brush often and well.

The first prize winner in both the drawing and video categories and a parent or guardian will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Buena Park, California, where they will visit the Dr. Fresh headquarters, and then enjoy a day at the nearby Disneyland resort.  The winner will also receive a $1000 U.S. Savings Bond, while the second and third place winners in both the drawing and video categories will receive $500 and $250 U.S. Savings Bonds, respectively.

To enter the traditional category, children should submit an original drawing of their toothbrush design, accompanied by a brief written description (100 words or less) on why they think kids would like to use this toothbrush.  All media – paints, crayons, chalk, pencils, markers – accepted.  Judges will be looking for originality, creativity and motivational appeal.

To enter the video category, children should upload a video in which they talk about and/or show a drawing or rendering of their toothbrush idea.  Judges will select semi-finalist videos to be posted to YouTube and Facebook.  The entries that receive the most “views” and “likes” will be the winners.

No licensed (e.g. cartoon) characters may be used, and all work must be the entrant’s own.  No purchase necessary.  Entries must be original, and be accompanied by an official contest entry form or reasonable facsimile thereof.  Drawing entries can be mailed to Hazmat Media (address) and must be postmarked by January 24, 2011.  For complete contest guidelines, to download an official entry form and to learn how to upload a video, please visit www.fireflytoothbrush.com. (Acceptable video format information can also be found there.)  All entries become the property of Dr. Fresh, Inc. and will not be returned.

Dr. Fresh manufactures a host of popular and affordable oral care and personal health products.
