Hugo The Happy Starfish: The Secret to Happiness by Suzy Lieberman

About Hugo The Happy Starfish by Suzy Liebermann:

Hugo is a little starfish. He finds his life dull. Tired of feeling sad, one day he sets off to find happiness. After much searching, he discovers something that makes his heart do a somersault! Sharing with others is the only thing that makes him truly happy; all other things just made him feel better for a little while.

Adults strive to teach children to share within their communities. Encouraging children to give teaches them empathy, as well as a sense of social responsibility. Children can feel empowered by giving and sharing with others.

 An award winning children’s book:

category of The USA "Best Books 2012" Awards, sponsored by USA Book News

Teaching a child to be a good person is a full time job in and of itself.  Character education is a great way to engage your kids in becoming a caring individual.  Damien and I enjoyed our journey with Hugo.  We were able to discuss things like sympathy and empathy.  I was amazed at how engaged Damien was.  Right after I closed the book, he was asking for me to read it again.  I'm thrilled that at how much he loves to have it read to him.

I highly recommend introducing your child to Hugo.  Especially in today's world where bullying is a prevalent problem, this one character might be able to make a big difference.
