INTERVIEW:
First I want to thank Matt for answering my questions and for allowing me to host a giveaway. Thanks Matt:)
When did you know that you wanted to be a writer? Wow, that is a loaded question for me. I have wanted to be a writer for a long time now. It is just the kind of writer I have wanted to be has changed. Originally, I wanted to be a sports writer and while I still love sports I like to create stories, characters, situations and whole worlds more.
Who has been your biggest inspiration? There have been a few people who have been key but highest on the list is a friend of mine named Sabine. Throughout the whole process she was the one kept me going, giving me ideas, making sure I put forth the best in me and pushing isn't quite the word she did at times, I think shoving is more like it. But it was needed. A couple authors also have inspired me. Of course the ubiquitous Stephen King and Jayne Anne Philips. I have adapted Jayne's style to fit me. My professor Mary Koral also helped shaped me into the writer I am today by being there when I needed her in the beginning.
How do you create the characters in your books? Are they based on people you know? I create the characters based off of how I perceive they would view the world and the circumstances of their situation if they were real. While they are completely fictional, I believe it is impossible not to have a little piece of someone you know be a part of one of the characters.
What is the one book that you think everyone should read? (Feel free to name your own) Liquid Soul of course, but besides my own work there are a few. The Dark Half by Stephen King really made me think about what it is to be a writer and what happens psychologically when something inside gets offset. Also, Black Tickets by Jayne Anne Philips. There was so much meaningful, real life purple prose in her short stories I can't help but read it over and over again. I still have the book and never get sick of reading it.
If you couldn't be a writer, what profession would you choose? I would want to be a travel personality on television discovering places all over the world that people either forgot existed or never knew were there as well as seeing what other beauties the world holds.
If you could trade places with anyone in the world, past or present, real or fiction, who would it be and why? Wow! Great question! There are a few people that I would like to trade places with. Genghis Khan for starters. I would like to know why he wanted to conquer the world only to let the locals govern themselves. Stephen King, because after all these years he still seems to be at the top of his writing game and I would like to know how to sustain something like that. Fictional, I would say Batman/Bruce Wayne. He seems to have so much in wealth, and fighting crime, but there always seems to be something missing in his life and he never is able to discover what it is.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have 3 belongings, what would they be? Someone special to keep me company, an endless supply of calamari and laptop whose battery never dies.
What is your favorite movie of all time? Sin City is definitely my favorite. There was so much that went on in that film that hit me on a few different levels. Plus I am a huge fan of film noir.
What is the one thing that you want all of your fans to know? I am a dreamer through and through. Sometimes when I try to sleep I can't because my brain refuses to shut off. It is like a tv that stays on even after being unplugged.

As you all know, I'm a sucker for scariness. I'm not sure why but I'm attracted to the darkness. I'm always looking for books that will creep me out. I guess because I've been reading supposedly "scary" books for as long as I can remember, so they don't affect me the way they used to. This book creeped me out. Thank you Matt! You've done your job:)
Liquid Soul is about a killer who gets his thrills from seeing a piece of his victims souls. In order to accomplish this, the blood of his victims has to touch him. Once the high has worn off, this killer is filled with sadness. He can never recreate that moment, so if he saw something he really liked, he is haunted by the memory of what he will never again experience. He doesn't know until the blood is shed what the victims soul will show. His experiences are a complete surprise. If he begins feeling something horrible, he cannot escape it until he is thrown back into himself.
If you are addicted to freaky books, I suggest you pick this one up. You can follow this killer's and victims lives and if you have a vivid imagination, you can feel what he feels.
