As you all know, I'm a not only a readaholic, I'm also a scaredaholic. I'm constantly trying to find something that will terrify me. I don't know when the obsession started or why I still get a thrill out of terror. It could possibly be that I have a tendency to remember that it's a just a movie or just a book and not real. Maybe that's why I have trouble finding something good and scary... I do have a bit of a problem with true stories. I can watch them sometimes but I don't like knowing that someone was actually hurt. I'm the type of person that tears up when they see a dead deer on the side of the road. The worst was when I went to a friend of mine's and we were having a girls night. We decided to drive to Wal-Mart for a midnight shop-a-thon which was only about 10-15 minutes from my friends house. On our way home, in the span of 10-15 minutes, I managed to run over a squirrel, possum and a rabbit. All in one trip! So they're laughing at me and calling me a serial killer and I start crying. I felt so horrible for killing these poor creatures. We were in the country and there wasn't any street lights and we were surrounded by trees, so I didn't know I was going to hit something until I actually hit it. So anyway, I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I like the occasional fear session, I'm not a deranged lunatic and I don't enjoy watching other's suffer, I just like a little bit of a fear fest. OK, maybe I should tell you about the movie now, LOL.
Parents distraught by rebellious teens, are looking for ways to reach their children and when they find a program that promises to help straighten their kids out, they take a blind leap and hope for the best. When Sophie Bauer pushes her mother and step-father a little to far, they decide to send her away to the rehabilitation program hoping this time away will make her see the error of her ways. Little do the parents know that their children will be used and abused physically and psychologically.
Luckily Sophie has a boyfriend who loves her enough that he gets himself thrown into the same institution and plans their escape. What once seemed a perfect getaway, begins a whole new chapter in deranged discipline. Will they become the empty vessels this program is known for or will they fight back and stand up for themselves?
Loved it. That's all I have to say. This movie was so much better than I anticipated. There are a couple of parts that are somewhat hard to watch but overall, it's not too bad. (Warning, there is a rape scene). The plot and the acting was amazing. This is definitely going on my "to be bought" list!
