One of my favorite hobbies is reading, a close second to my enjoyment of watching DIRECT.TV when I am not reading. My favorite book, The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger revolves around Henry DeTamble, an involuntary time traveler due to a genetic disorder and his wife Claire. Henry has known Claire since she was six years old, whom he met while time traveling. The story follows their lives.
The Time Travelers Wife is a love story revolving around long suffering passion, sex, danger and a not so happy ending. This tale allows me to imagine the possibilities in life and love. Claire through her relationship with Henry is aware of her future before she gets the chance to live it and yet looks forward to being married to a man who disappears right before her eyes. Claire always seems to be experiencing a dual nature of emotion, a sense of abandonment and anxiously waiting Henrys return. Claire states Henrys been gone almost twenty four hours now, and as usual Im torn between thinking obsessively about when and where he might be and being pissed at him for not being here.
The story transcends the past, present and future presenting Henrys journeys simultaneously. I love this story because it demonstrates that true love is timeless, it can exist in and out of time.
