The Creation of Eve by Lynn Cullen

Sofonisba is a historical painter who lived in Michelangelo's time. She even studied under him for a short period of time. Even though women were uneducated at this point in history, Sofonisba's father believed in education and made sure that his daughters were well versed in different subjects.

When Sofonisba leaves her home, she is taken into the home of Elisabeth de Valois and Felipe II, where she is a lady-in-waiting. She bonds with Elisabeth and the two lean on each other.

This historical novel was fun because there were so many different emotions floating around on the pages. I really felt like I was inside the pages, living and watching this beautiful, fictional account of Sofonisba's life.
