Review: Hibiclens & Hibistat

Hibiclens® is an antiseptic antimicrobial skin cleanser that contains 4 percent chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG). CHG is not absorbed through the skin, instead it bonds to it and actively kills germs for up to six hours without leaving a residue. Hibiclens is gentle, used with water and approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It kills the 2009 H1N1 virus strain and Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Hibistat® is an individually-wrapped wipe that contains 70 percent isopropyl alcohol and 0.5 percent chlorhexidine gluconate (CHG) and is used without water. It has the same ability to kill germs as Hibiclens, yet is portable (think backpack, sports bag, purse).

Why Antimicrobial:

Antimicrobial washes and wipes are different than soap and water and even antibacterial soaps because they are able to kill bacteria, fungus and viruses. In contact sports, skin infections caused by all three of these are a common occurrence and can start as a scratch, pimple or “spider bite.”

Hibiclens and Hibistat are two of my favorite products. I hate germs and want to do everything I can to keep myself and my family healthy. The wipes are perfect to carry with you in your purse or pocket. It's amazing how much better you can feel just by taking proper care of yourself.

Disclosure: I received Hibiclens for free.  Opinions expressed are 100% mine.

  1. I always like to have on hand an antibacterial, especially for my little daughter, because it is very useful, especially when you have nowhere to wash your hands
