Blog Tour: Author Melissa Burmester

Q & A

When did you know that you wanted to be a writer?

I have always written short stories since I could write. The first short story I wrote was about a horse and my brother did the drawings for the story. I never got to finish it. All my teachers said that I had a talent for writing and they encouraged me to improve my skills.

Who has been your biggest inspiration?

I love Agatha Christie novels.

How do you create the characters in your books? Are they based on people you know?

When I started to write Ginger High, I started a Journal and as I jotted down my ideas the characters would just come to me. Are the characters based on people I know…? Maybe, Maybe not. LOL.

What is the one book you think everyone should read?

I just read the book Restless by Wallace. The book was really good. I think everyone should read it. It is a perfect book for someone who does not like to read long books.

If you weren’t a writer, what be your profession?

I don’t know yet. I am presently taking American Sign Language and I find the class fascinating. I know that writing can be a hard profession and you may need a second career to fall back on.

If you could trade places with anyone in the world, past or present, real or fiction, who would it be and why?

Most people are expecting me to say ‘Nobody. I love my life now’ but I want to experience someone else’s as well. I have always been fascinated by King Arthur’s time. In my novel Ginger High, the World of Animist was based on that era.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have 3 things, what would they be?

I would need water, a lot of food, and ten people to keep me company.

What is your favorite movie of all time?

Um… not Twilight like most people would say but I love you, Beth Cooper was one of my favorites

What is the one thing that you want all your fans to know?

I love you! :D Yeah, that I love them all. Even though I don’t know them but you can love someone that you don’t know

If you could invite 5 people to dinner, who would they be and why?

Huh? Lol. Um, let’s see… I would want to eat with… Hugh Laurie, Olivia Wilde, Robert Sean Leonard, definitely Michelle Trachtenberg, and my grandparents.
