Review & Giveaway: The Code of Destiny by Sara Enochs
Ava has a rare and extraordinary talent, one that she must keep hidden for her safety and the safety of others. Her ability is not the only secret she keeps. She also happens to be a very important member of an exclusive secret society.
When a CIA agent who has a keen telepathic ability sets her sights on Ava, who knows what might happen. What will happen when these two come face to face?
Very intriguing. I suggest waiting until you can read this book all the way through because you won't be able to put it down.
Q & A:
When did you know that you wanted to be a writer?
I started writing after my brother passed away. I knew I had to do something, but I just couldn’t get the words out. I would start and them stop. I can’t tell you how many manuscripts I threw away. Then, when I was pregnant with my third child, I finally got my book done. I believe there is a book in all of us. When it’s meant to come out it will come out.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
This sounds really cheesy, but it’s been the people closest to me. I lost my two grandmothers last year about this time and you just don’t realize how big of influence they had on you until they are gone. My dad, of course, he teaches me something new everyday.
How do you create the characters in your books? Are they based on people you know?
Most of my characters in my book are also my biggest inspiration! There really is a Granny Lucy. Zack and Amy were really my siblings. If someone has passed away, I use his or her real names. Otherwise, I change them. The other characters that are in the daydreams are made up …completely fictional.
What is the one book you think everyone should read?
OK, this is really hard for me to say, because I have had such a huge struggle with God, but I’m going to have to say the Bible.
If you weren’t a writer, what be your profession?
Molecular biologist
If you could trade places with anyone in the world, past or present, real or fiction, who would it be and why?
Leonardo da Vinci, born in 1452. I love reading about the Renaissance. It was such a great time in history to look at the world with a fresh pair of eyes.
If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have 3 things, what would they be?
I would bring my husband. He is totally into survival. He can fish, make fire, and cook. Plus it would be lovely to be stranded with him and get to spend some uninterrupted time with him. The next thing I would bring would be one a tool. I suppose a knife. And the last, one kick ass bathing suit!
What is your favorite movie of all time?
When I was a kid, I loved the movie Stir Crazy directed by Sidney Poitier, starring Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor. It came out in 1980 and I was 11 years old. I thought that movie was so-o funny. Still do. Sometimes you just need to remember how you used to laugh.
What is the one thing that you want all your fans to know?
That writing a trilogy is super hard. I’m on the third book and I’m about to rip my head off! Don’t get me wrong; the second one was hard, too, but in a different way. The Code of Dignity, the second book, is a very personal book and it was hard to put my own feelings out there. It’s about my journey through autism with my sons. The third book, The Code of Deliverance, is more about world events and it is still hard to express an opinion. I’m so afraid that people are going to get mad. But, that’s why you write a book in the first place, to evoke passion.
If you could invite 5 people to dinner, who would they be and why?
I don’t even know who they would be, but I would want to invite the top five people who have the capability of changing our vehicles to run on hydrogen instead of fossil fuels. I don’t even know if someone like that exists. I would invite my dad, who has been working on creating a solar hydrogen economy, and we would hash it out over dinner. Then we would go get it done. Done, done, done!Wouldn’t that be a great dinner!
