I've always loved television shows with lots of drama and gossip. Things that involve high schoolers, or adults, or even companies, and cops. I wasn't much of a science fiction person because I could never imagine myself in the situations they are in. It always felt like people were just flying around blowing things up. When I got direct TV satellite I decided to try watching some of the newer science fiction shows. That is where I found Caprica.
Caprica takes everything I love about drama and gossip and throws it into a science fiction world. At its heart , it is just about the characters. Everything else is completely supplemental to that.
The story revolves around a family with a father who invents a new type of robot. The type of robot is called a cylon. However, his daughter is involved with a terrorist organization that doesn't believe cylons should be allowed on the planet they live on. This creates some tight family drama that is riveting to watch.
The reason Caprica stands out from other shows is that it combines so many dramas so well. Their is some crime solving, some science fiction, and even some nice romance. All of it blends so well together and so correctly, that I feel like I am watching a great movie. That is the best praise you can give to any TV show.
