Author Kathryne Kennedy

Q & A with Kathryne Kennedy, Author of My Unfair Lady

When did you know that you wanted to be a writer? When I sold my very first short story. That’s when I thought that people would actually want to read what I wrote.

Who has been your biggest inspiration? My dad. He’s always inspired me to reach for my dreams.

How do you create the characters in your books?  Are they based on people you know? They come totally from my imagination, although I study real people for certain physical characteristics and mannerisms.

What is the one book you think everyone should read? So many books have such very different amazing things to offer that this is a tough one. I guess I would have to default to the very first book I can remember reading: Grimm’s Fairy Tales.

If you weren’t a writer, what be your profession? As I’m a licensed insurance agent and still run the agency, I guess I would continue to do so. But life would be pretty dull if I couldn’t use my creativity.

If you could trade places with anyone in the world, past or present, real or fiction, who would it be and why? Mary Magdalene, cause I’ve got a lot of questions for Jesus Christ.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have 3 things, what would they be? Chocolate, my laptop, and a very long power cable to the nearest electrical source.

What is your favorite movie of all time? Sense & Sensibility with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet. I’ve seen it a dozen times, and I still cry when Marianne gets sick and Elinor’s vulnerability is exposed.

What is the one thing that you want all your fans to know? That I’m just an ordinary person who has the same feelings, hardships, and joys as anybody else.

If you could invite 5 people to dinner, who would they be and why? My mom, my husband, my two sons, and Jeff Dunham, cause we can all use some laughter in our lives right now.

My Unfair Lady by Kathryne Kennedy—in stores December 2009!
He created the perfect woman…
The impoverished Duke of Monchester despises the rich Americans who flock to London, seeking to buy their way into the ranks of the British peerage. So when railroad heiress Summer Wine Lee offers him a king’s ransom if he’ll teach her to become a proper lady, he’s prepared to rebuff her. But when he meets the petite beauty with the knife in her boot, it’s not her fortune he finds impossible to resist…
For the arms of another man
Frontier-bred Summer Wine Lee has no interest in winning over London society—it’s the New York bluebloods and her future mother-in-law she’s determined to impress. She knows the cost of smoothing her rough-and-tumble frontier edges will be high. But she never imagined it might cost her heart…
