Stem Cells

There has been so much information obtained recently about Stem Cells. Science is discovering new ways to use stem cells to save lives everyday. You may be asking, what is a stem cell exactly? A stem cell is a "cell with the ability to divide for indefinite periods in culture and to give rise to specialized cells". One of the most interesting thing about stem cells is that they can act as an "internal repair system" in some tissues, meaning that they can divide all throughout life.

Information about stem cells is available and it might be the key to defeating certain diseases. Stem cells are "unspecialized cells capable of renewing themselves through cell division, sometimes after long periods of inactivity". There is still a lot to learn about these cells but hopefully, one day, we will have the answers and cures to many ailments. Right now, studies are being conducted on new drugs and to find the cause and cure for birth defects.

When I first took a look at a Stem cell image, I was amazed that such a tiny thing could be so important to our health and quality of life. The possibilities are endless. The idea that one day we can beat cancer is amazing. I love my family and I want them to have every opportunity to live a long life. Science is one step closer to making that a reality, and for that, I am very thankful.

Stem cells might hold the answers we need to keep our bodies healthy. The idea of using a cell that can pretty much fix ailments, is astounding. It would be a miracle to know that if you were told that you had a certain condition that could be turned around simply by using cells. I can't wait to see what other great qualities surface about these cells and what they are capable of.
